Separately from the father.

Prabhupada: Suppose a boy is very rich man’s son. But still, he thinks “Why shall I live under the rules and regulations of my father? Let me go out. I shall enjoy life freely.” Freely, what freedom? You are already rich man’s son. You can enjoy the property of your very, very rich powerful father, and what independence you will enjoy? This is criminality. We are sons of God, part and parcels of God, and God means almighty. So we have got almighty father, and leaving His place, I have come to this material world to enjoy independently. That is criminality. And we are suffering.

The father is so rich, God, that how much property you can enjoy? What is the use of your endeavoring differently? You have got your father’s property. Why you are wasting your time to become happy separately from the father? You just become obedient son of your father; naturally, you will inherit the father’s property and be happy. Why you are endeavoring separately without father? That is your mistake. You want to be happy. So happiness is already there. You are such a rich man’s son, God. God is the proprietor of everything. So instead of becoming a very dear child to the father, why you are endeavoring separately to become happy? Just become a very dear child to the father. Then everything is there.

Just like a very rich man’s son, if he thinks that “If I live independently, without being dependent on father,” that is his foolishness. How he can become happy independently, living aside from the father?

The supreme father is all-opulent, full of everything, and I am minute only. So if I live under the care of the father, naturally I will live very comfortably, like rich man’s son. But if I prefer that I shall live independently, that is my foolishness. So only the fools and rascals they try to remain independent of Krsna, and they suffer. That is the consequence. And those who are intelligent, even in the, this material life, by association of devotee and spiritual opportunities, when he comes to this understanding, that “I am son of Krsna. He claims, aham bija-pradah pita, ‘I am the father,’ so I am the son of Krsna, and why I am rotting in this way? Let me go back to my father,” that is back to home, back to Godhead—that is intelligence.

But if I require something, it will come from Krsna. Why shall I try for it? A rich man’s son, he doesn’t do anything for earning money. He knows, “My father is rich and as soon as I require money, he will give me. So why shall I become a big, big businessman and become a karmi?” Tasyaiva hetoh prayateta kovido na labhyate yad bhramatam upary adhah. You try for that thing which you did not achieve so long, even if you have traveled from different species of life, different planets. For that thing you try, which you have not achieved. Simply you have become implicated.

Krsna will show how magical things are performed by the devotees. Krsna will show. Just like small child, he doesn’t require to earn money for spending. If he’s rich man’s son, his father will take care of him. Similarly, a devotee does not endeavor to become expert in jnana-yoga, dhyana-yoga, hatha-yoga, this yoga. He depends on Krsna. And when some yogic, mystic power has to be shown, Krsna will show that. That is the process, bhakti-yoga. You take to Krsna, and everything will be done. Krsna, Krsna says, aham tvam sarva- papebhyo moksayisyami ma sucah: “Don’t worry. I shall take care of you.” So therefore the conclusion is that one who is fortunate, he can take to Krsna consciousness cent percent, without any deviation. That is wanted. Go on.

We are rich man’s son. Economic problem is already solved. That is already taken. Tal labhyate yad anyatah sukham. We don’t care for all this so-called improvement. That is already settled up. Tasyaiva hetoh prayateta kovidah. Just see how to become a man of character like Narada, Vyasa. That is our goal. Tasyaiva hetoh prayateta kovidah. Not for any other. “And what about your material problems?” That is already taken. Tal labhyate duhkhavad anyatah sukham kalena sarvatra gabhira-ramhasa. This is krsna-bhakta. Don’t care for maintaining body. “What Krsna will give, I take. If He does not give, don’t mind.”

Actually, we are not meant for suffering. If we are sons of God, who is full with all opulence, why should we suffer? Does a rich man’s son suffer anytime? If he suffers, it is due to his ignorance. Similarly, we are suffering, but our ignorance is so strong that we are suffering, but at the same time we are thinking that we are happy. This is the influence of ignorance.
